Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), which are most often established by
the employer, give employees and their family members easy access to professional
counselling and consultation services. The central aim of the EAP is to
help employees solve problems that are or might be interfering with their
work and personal lives.
EAPs have received the overwhelming endorsement of Unions, Management and
Business Owners. The rationale for this endorsement is that Employee Assistance
Programs are of mutual benefit to organizations as a whole, and to the employees
at all levels within them. EAPs have been established in every major corporation
in Canada, the United States and in many other countries around the world.
